most of you likely know Joe as nanook1134 around the interwebs. his love of tying and skill at Dee style flies always impressed me and we finally got him to do a demonstration on his fine techniques. Dee style flies originated on the Dee river (go figure!) around 150 years ago and are great flies for our steelhead as well. long spey type hackle and long strip wings characterize this style typically with slim, multi colored bodies and at least two ribs. these elegant ties are not too expensive to tie and require patience as well as tying skill so watching someone as good as Joe will help any aspiring tyer to tackle these flies.
