Updates are happening fast and furious....I will add some pics etc. to the thread, but provide updates to this first post as things come together. Rods,Lines & Pro Staff for the event: WNY's own Rick Kustich , Scott Prostaff and West River Publishing will be joining the many shops and Pro-staffers that have also confirmed attendance at the event. Thanks Rick
Neil Houlding is prostaff for Loomis so will have a few of his rods at the event as well as various lines.I have asked Neil to do a brief casting demonstration of traditional, skagit and scandanavian casting in case anyone is new to spey casting. It should help provide some understanding of the pros and cons of the various methods.
Mike Barrand is Pro Staff for Snowbee rods. Mike will have rods as well as a few lines for people to try. Peter Charles is Pro Staff for Guideline rods. Peter will also have rods and reels for people to try.He also mentioned that he will bring a fre single handers for people to try as well. Bob McKenzie will be on hand along with Sage Pro Staffer Ted Shand. They are bring rods from both Sage & Redington to play with.
Many others will be bringing their own gear to try, test and ask questions...
Added bonus is that most (myself included) are actually planning on taking advantage of some of the great Steelhead fishing that the Grand River has to offer, while spending the rest of the day sharing experiences with many other Spey-nuts.
Date:Saturday Oct.18,2008. Time:9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M or whenever Place:Bean Park,Paris Ont. A complimentary (free) BBQ lunch with beverages is provided. The entire event is free.
Additional details will be posted on Randy's site:

This October event that started as an idea to have about a dozen spey-nuts get together on the river and fish for chrome sometime in October, is now rivaling the previous Grand River Spey Clave in May that had about 100 people in attendance. May 2008 Grand River Spey Clave Cheers, CCC

Thanks Nick. It's a bit of work to organize these events but at the end of the day it's always well worth it. The wife has commented that she is amazed at the lengths I will go to just to hang out with other fly fishermen and particularly other people that are attracted to the double handers and spey casting. To some degree I guess she is correct as I have made some great new friends and fishing buddies.
Cheers,Randy.
