On with the Drakes. The underapreciated Yellow Drake. Ephemera Varia I believe and a great long running hatch. Usually at last light coupled with the spinners they bring up some good fish. Daytime sporadic hatches can make for some great blind dry fly fishing too.

Then amongst all those delicate little sail boat Mayflies blunders the big Golden Stoneflies. The drunken jockocracy of the trout stream insects. Terrible swimmers and fliers they crawl or more like run on ground or even water and the trout love them. They hatch sporadically but come out at dusk and the females throw themselves down on the riffles to knock loose their egg clusters. The trout hurl themselves at them and once in a while get one. Cool bugs for sure.

Last but definitely not least the Eastern Green Drake. Ephemera Guttulata. Probably more hype surround this hatch than even the Hexs. Very susceptible to pollution they are sadly dwindling just about everywhere these days. They tend to hatch well on small water unlike the Hexs and give the small stream fly fisher the best crack at a dry fly monster. Pack your headlamp, have an escape route planned and generally be prepared to stay out well past dark.

Something about these old Fenwicks. The new glass rod companies would do well to engineer a little Fenwick into their heavier rods. I have never cast a modern 8 wt that can hold a candle to my 8.5 8 from 1974. I used it in the boat the other day with a 300 gr depth finder and no shit it did that well too. Step it up folks!

Foxy Lady. Something about this Carp reminds me of a 70's Disco Queen. Maybe it's the blue eye shadow?
