Here is my attempt at the Peeler sans cone head. It was a toss up cone head or doll eyes. I went with the doll eyes because they rattle...

looks yummy, What are you throwing it at, I know some bass and pike in the Niagara that would like a shot at it. Are you weighting the hook at the bend or letting the fuzzy stuff up top, make it ride true.
Great tye, Steve

Steve I plan to fish this for trout, however I assume it would also work for Pike and bass. I do not weight the keel hook at all, although I thought about it. The reson I didnt was because I couldnt locate my wire at the time I first tied this.
Its very close to the stacked blond pattern that successfully rides true without the weight. The fuzzy stuff on top is dog hair topped with bou.
thanks for the compliments I will let you know how I make out with this pattern. A friend thinks it would great for trout because he has seen them eat snakes before.

BIG FLYS CATCH BIG TROUT! Good deal, Weightless swinging with the speyrod on the D.?? I bet it would throw a pretty good wake. But you it on fish tips as well. That would probably get some interest from Chinooks in our big river in October.
Last question: what size hook - #2 ?

Steve,
I will probably just fish it while wading or from a drift boat.
I dont really swing the spey on the D but hope to build up to it at some point.
Its tied on a size one daiichi streamer hook that I bent into a keel hook.
There is a VERY good chance that I will give it a try this weekend. It will be in the rotation!
Thanks for the kind words maybe some day I will give it a go on the N in October.
