As winter settles in some of our thoughts are to spring and warmer weather. The date for this years Oak Orchard Fly Shop and the Rushford lake conservation clubs Kids Fly Fest is July 25th. Hopefully the weather will be great and lots of kids and volunteers will be there. I can not thank all of you enough who have donated in the past your time, flies and financial support and skills to help promote this great sport and pass it on to the future. Hope to see you there.
On June 20th at the club we will be having our youth archery clinic and 3D shoot for the kids. It is ran with the same format as the fly fest. This is basic instructions of archery and how to become a better shooter. Prizes and lunch also provided. Volunteers are always welcome.
New this year August 8th is a Special day for Special kids at the club. Every year I get a lot of inquiries from parent of special needs kids. Some attend the events but lots op out for one reason or another. After talking to lots of people we decide on a casual day of fishing and events to let these great kids enjoy what a lot of us take for granted. This we be limited to 20 kids and their parents. I am looking for volunteers and open to ideas to make this a success. We will have fishing, UTV rides through the woods, a wood carver, Messenger Woods with their birds of prey. Lunch and gifts provided.
For any information or suggestion please contact me here or e-mail me at ruchfordrick@yahoo.com
Hope you all have a great holiday season and a happy new year. Rick.

Rick - I am looking forward to participating in the fly tying event again in 2015. The Rushford event has become the highlight of the summer. It is a great event!

Rick...August 8th looks like something I can do & would be interested in doing. I'm usually booked the last weekend in July with kayaking in "Paddles-up" paddle-fest so that's out. We'll talk next year as the 8th gets closer.

I dropped off raffle tickets yesterday at the shop for the Kids Rushford Lake event. Same as last year. GO PRO 3 Silver sport camera, 4 wgt Echo fly fishing outfit ( Rod, Reel, Line,& Case)and a $50 gift card. Last years big winner was sold at the shop. If you have any flies to donate for the event they will be greatly appreciated by the kids. Please drop those off at the shop or if you can show up to volunteer please bring them the day of the event. If you can volunteer please PM me. Will be posting more updates as the time gets closer. As always thanks a ton.

OK sportsfans this event is rapidly approaching, like next saturday in fact. we could still use a few volunteers for working the kids through the classes. If you've got a little free time and want to give a little something back to the next generation here's your chance. we could also use some fly donations for the give away boxes each kid gets from the event. whatever you have would be greatly appreciated. step up folks! Thank You! from a few years ago
