Wilderness Society link to request Congress continue to fund The Land and Water Conservation Fund - which is financed by oil and gas royalties. Share this link with 2 fiends and you shall receive infinite wisdom.secure.wilderness.org/site/Advocacy?cmd=display&page=UserAction&id=2841If link goes haywire just hit the homes page More info: On Sept. 30, one of our nation’s most effective conservation laws will end—unless members of Congress take action and prevent that from happening! This far-reaching program has been protecting land across the U.S. for 50 years, from iconic national treasures like Yellowstone and the Florida Everglades to your local parks and ball fields. Please urge lawmakers to reauthorize the Land and Water Conservation Fund. The program does all of this at no cost to taxpayers. It takes a tiny sliver of the oil and gas royalties from offshore drilling and invests it in open spaces and purchasing lands threatened by development. Lands across the country could be at risk. Unless Congress acts, this remarkable program will expire on Sept. 30, and projects to create local parks, as well as to purchase lands at risk of development, could be jeopardized. Lands in the following places could even be lost: Grand Teton National Park (Wyoming) Saguaro National Park (Arizona) Gettysburg National Military Park (Pennsylvania) Obed Wild and Scenic River (Tennessee) and many more Take action before it’s too late: Tell your senators and representative to immediately reauthorize and fully fund one of America’s great conservation programs. Sincerely, The Wilderness Society
