This fly was invented in1980 by George Maul for a friend fishing the Matane. It popularity has since spread as far as Scotland and Iceland but it is still a big favorite on the Gaspe. It is predominantly fished in larger sizes in the spring during high water periods but it also fishes very well in other sizes and in all types of water. Hook: Up eye salmon hook or streamer hook. Tag: Fine oval silver tinsel, fluorescent green floss, fluorescent orange floss. Rib: medium oval silver tinsel. Body: Gudebrod buttwind (black & white) Wing: yellow, white, and black deer tail hairs in that order. Cheeks: silver pheasant feathers
