This pattern has an interesting history. Guide, Tom Cornell found a fly that was similar to this one stuck in the jaw of a salmon he caught. He brought the fly to me to duplicate and in the process we made some changes to the basic design in order to make the fly better. Since then the fly has become one of our staples, especially on the lower Niagara River where it has been a very good fly for steelhead. Hook: Up eye salmon hook. Tag: Flat silver tinsel Tail: Chartreuse crystal flash. Body: Chartreuse Ice Chenille. Collar: Fluorescent yellow hackle. Wing: Chartreuse crystal flash over polar bear hair or calf tail. Head: Yellow
