If you can find the hooks I suggest you lay in a good supply of them as they can be tough to purchase. This pattern is simple to tie and still takes fish with amazing consistency for me. I began tying this pattern specifically for the winter midge hatches on Spring Creek and have altered it not a bit since its first trial. When the fish are sipping those tiny dark midges from the surface this pattern will entice more than its share. If you are really brave you might even try skating this fly to imitate the windblown midges on a stormy winter day.
