Hook- Daiichi 1130 #14 or 16 Thread- Rusty Dun 8/0 Tail (shuck)- Mallard Flank fibers Abdomen- Brown Beaver dubbing Rib- Fine Gold wire Thorax- Blended Pink Superfine dubbing Wing and case- Dark Dun Oiler Puff Tying notes: Tying in the oiler puff is the critical step in making this fly successful. It should be tied in almost as a parachute post with the top to the rear and the base toward the hook eye. The thorax gets dubbed around it, and then the puff base gets trimmed off. There are times when the fish become incredibly selective during the Hendrickson hatch. Too often I have taken the hunger of the fish in the early season and been stumped, so I set out to find a reliable emerger pattern to imitate this early season hatch.
