Tube: Large Loop Bottle Tube Wing: Purple Zonker Strip Underwing: Purple FLashabou Body: Purple Polar Chenille Undercollar: Purple Arctic Fox Collar: Black Schlappen Cheek: Jungle Cock I have been experimenting with bottle tubes lately. This one is large and brass. Fly drops like a stone and gains depth without a sink tip on the swing.

If you dont mind me asking, how has your experiences been fishing flies like this. If those bottle tubes sink like a brick, do you find it hard to keep those flies in the same zone of the water column while swinging and do you hang bottom frequently. Very curious, havent fished any bottle tubes yet, but have been overly intrigued by them. Thanks

With our strong currents and deep slots found in the Salmon, This is the first fly that actually can stay down in the "Canyons" and doesn't seem to ride up in the upwellings of the ledges, works perfect for me. It can get 3-5 feet deep wihout a tip and wit a mend, get deeper. Put on a tip in the fast water...perfect

Nice, thanks for the info, I have really only been playing with tubes now for about 2 seasons but love the darn things. I use them primarily for my trout streamers but was turned to them from the steelhead junkies of the Great lakes.

Shaq- have you tried the HMH copper tubes? if so what do you think the difference/advantage is of the bottel tube if there is one? weight wise the 1/2" HMH heavy copper tube weighs more than the same length bottle tube and i can't seem to see what would be better about the bottle tubes. give us a comparison if you can.

The shape of the bottle pushes the material outward automaitcally..ie collars and fur as a molded body on a nymph hook gives a base for the body. That is why I like tying on them. I will post an empty bottle tube tonight so you can see the shape. There is a long neck beer bottle shape to them that pushes the material outward rather than having to dub something behind the arctic fox to give it body
