After a move, some seriously cold weather, and successfully finding a job, I could think of nothing I would rather do than go fishing. Saturday I headed to a small Erie trib that looked great but most of the places I suspected the fish to be were covered with ice. I really just wanted to get out and do some hiking anyway so I wasn't disappointed. The water had about 2ft visibility and the deeper pools had a nice greenish color to them. On my way upstream I found one fish hugging the bank at the edge of a large sheet of ice. There was no possible way to get a fly to him. On my way back I spooked a pair of fish sitting just above a waterfall. Sunday I headed out with a couple friends to the place some call "The Zoo" and it was actually quiet. Found some fish in the deeper water and between the three of us landed a few and lost a few. I think that by the time we left there were only two other anglers on the water. Its great to be back and I look forward to getting out a lot more.
