This is my attempt at the classic known as "the Stacked Blond". It is a pattern popularized by Kelly Galloup and is a modern rendition of the famous Joe Brooks blond fly the blond. The pattern calls for a Keel hook so I modified a size one daiichii streamer. Took a nice sized brown this morning on this very fly.

Nice fly! should be called the AMAZON Blonde!! On a #1 , that makes it at leased 4 or 5" long, wow Pike killer too! Does it ride hook point up? I would keep the material closer to the hook eye(on the flat section that you bent) so it will flow straight over the point. Looks fishy, especially for muddy flows. Thanks for showin' us.

R. Crumb would love this Amazonian blond your right! As mentioned I did tie it on a size one however when converting the hook to a keel style hook it is a bit shorter.
Yes this fly is designed to ride point up so it can crawl over things etc. I tie it in a synthetic version with DNA material I gave the fly a Japanese name the **** blond. After seeing Nick P. Emerald shinner I thought why not replace the bucktail with dna. I like the suggestion for finishing the fly closer to the eye. I will experiment with finishing it closer to the eye however I wanted to tie it true to the original pattern.
My favorite thing about this fly is the action that it has in the water. When its stripped it is very thin in between stripps it really has a full profile.
Thanks for the kind words I will be tying up an emerald shiner version of this fly. My favorite thing about this fly is just how easy it is to tie as well as the action it has in the water.

No problem its a 2220 daichii hook in size one bent keel style. I stack three clumps of bucktail following the keels with DNA mixed in. The top of the fly is two marabou plooms however the top eventually becomes the bottom since this fly rides like a clouser. At the end I boil some water and pour it into a pyrex cup and let the temp drop a bit so that it does not burn the material. Then I dip the buck tail in it so that it fourms a more natural proflie as one would do when tying a hollow fly.
I hope to tie a new version this week called the pimped blond.. we will have to see how it comes out.
