the new Echo Dec Hogan rods have finaly come in and i have had a chance to play with the 7130. very traditional actioned and a very sweet rod to cast with short head lines. i used the compact skagit with a 15' type 6 tip and it was sssoooo easy to cast. big distance was effortless. it also threw the delta 7/8 very well too which is no surprise since it was apparently the line the rod was designed to cast. with the slower action the rod gets the mid to bottom sections involved in every cast which gave it amazing power once i slowed myself down to the rod it got easier and easier and more effortless.
it does not seem to like casting long head lines, or at least i struggled with it a bit with the delta long (about 65' head). went back to any correct weight shorter line and back to smooth and easy again. they should make great fishing rods. we do have the 7130 as a demo if anyone wants a test drive, just let me know.
