That would work great here in dark colors during the spring runoff. Never thought of combining these 2 proven flies into one. Great idea and thanks for sharing this idea. Definately going to be tying a few of these for next spring.

norviser, Don't discount white during muddy runoff. We fish it in the Catt when there is a foot of viz. and it still works.

norviser, Don't discount white during muddy runoff. We fish it in the Catt when there is a foot of viz. and it still works. We have tried white and other lighter colors here but darks seem to be the "go to" colors; black, brown, purple, dark red, dark olive and the like.....whether it's a conditioning thing or not is a question that has been brought up around my area. Perhaps a certain mix ratio of light and dark maybe another viable alternative.

The Bow River in Alberta. Mind you your version would most likely do very well in the wintering pools,

Wow! you're way over there, EH I would suspect fish food would be a little different. The main source is emerald shiners in Lake Erie. Welcome aboard!,

The food source is a little different, we don't have emerald shiners but we do have sticklebacks, darters, fatheads and sculpins.....a few color tweaks and your pattern should simulate anything we have here. The clouser and bugger are pretty much proven patterns anywhere but what you did combining the two is a great idea. Thanks again for sharing. Ron
