Hook: Alec Jackson - size 1 shown Tail: 2 strips of pearl Krystal Flash (optional) Hackle: Schlappen - 1 side stripped Rib #1: Mini sparkle braid - silver (or medium oval tinsel) Rib #2: Pearl mylar - large Body: sts trilobal or seal (dark pink butt and purple for the body) (bright green and olive for the body) (orange with brown for the body) Throat: guinea - red Wing: whiting laced hen saddle or any saddle This proved to be a good fly on the Salmon River this year and it was the first year it was fished by myself and my father. We each landed fish with the purple and the brown versions. I think the olive version will be better in the spring and early fall. I typically strip one side of the schlappen and tie it in by the butt. I also strip one side of the guinea collar. I find this gives the materials more freedom of movement and light can play with the colors due to the sparseness. If you don't like the feather wings use another material......it will work!!
