well now you got me there. somehow i've never thought to try a different color only the natural grey/brown.

Just an idea. Maybe some bright colors with the brighter wire? I'll try it one of these days and let everyone know.

i think depending on water clarity/depth all color combinations could work theoretically. I like the idea of varying the color of the wing. When the entire body is all a really bright color i feel like its too much of a giveaway and a small colored wing might be more effective. The wing is the 'hot spot' so to speak. I guess ive never tried tying them w ith a deerhair wing simply because i find it to be a pain!! They definitely look good.. I know alot of people who fish serendipities which are kind of similar to the motormidge in that they both have deerhair wings. People seem to do well with those.
I'm going out tomorrow to fish a local headwater.. i'm adding a few motor midges with the deerhair fo sho

One more question...Im tying insmall sizes for trout mostly, think they wold work for steelies perhaps in bigger sizes???

I tied someBrassies on a Daiichi 1120 Scud hook and had no trouble catching Steelhead with them.
