The big creek looks like it is finally getting into shape, and I just want to see if anyone has tried it lately? Additionally, I have a question regarding t-14 and skagit casting when the water is still on the higher side (~750 cfs). What length is appropriate? I bought 30 ft from the shop a while back and want to try it this spring. I was thinking of cutting it into a 6 ft piece and a 9 ft piece. Can I use those on the big kitty? The remaining 15ft I would like to use on the Niagara.

most people cut it for a 5' 10' and 15' but 6 and 9 is fine too. the 9-10' should be plenty for that water with a weighted fly. i used an 11' hunk of t-10 last fall a bunch and a 15' type 6 tip too. the 15' type 8 tip was too much for all but one deep and fast pool.

actually i like that thought process (6,9 & 15) as i think the extra foot from 5 to 6 may help with extra stick casting and not blowing your anchors so easily. 5' alone is getting pretty short imo with out another 5' of float attached to the tip for 10' total. I also view 9' as more usable more often on the Catt than 10'. small changes for sure but may be a bit better overall. you could add a 10'-15' clear int. sink leader/tip and w) wt'ed fast sink flys fill in well for under/less than the 6' of T14 and/or certain slower swing pools , clear water, etc. good luck................smallies are not far away either
