Put your pride aside and name that one fly or flies that is like sticking a knife in back and twisting when you tie it. Post a pic too. Mine is the Grey Ghost, bless Carrie Stevens for this fly but no matter how many times I tie it does not turn out good. Maybe it's cause it's not meant to be tied fully dressed on small hook ( proportions get all out of whack for me, this one is on an 8X long size 8) but I keep making very small improvements, all went OK till I couldn't find grey hackle thin enough and then I realized that I did not go back far enough on the body, well here is my attempt at The Grey Ghost

believe it or not....a wooly bugger!!!! I absolutely hate them.......nothing ever goes right. I can't get the hackle to whind straight and not twist.....then that causes the counter rib to trap fibers......pure junk when I'm done!

Mine would probably have to be any dry fly with a feathertip or calftail wing. I can never get the proportions right. I have switched to using *-tron yarn for the wings on most of my catskill style dries. Thats also the reason 90% of the mayfly patterns in my fly box are parachutes.

I despise tying small flies, especially dry flies under size 20. Probably beacause I rarely fish small flies. I just buy them when I need them, which is very rare.
