I just read an article in the July/August issue of the American Angler entitled "Let there be Light by Henry Cowen about using Tuffleye and CCG instead the usual epoxies etc.
Has anyone had any experience in using this stuff and what are your thoughts and opinions about it all?

I have not had any experience with either, I've read about tuffleye and want to see if it would work for putting eyes on rods instead of waiting 24 hrs for epoxy to cure, maybe they will make a rod building version

i have used the uv stuff for covering eyes on streamers and it works just fine. surely not a strong as epoxy but way easier to deal with especially if you have a decent light. rotating the vise while epoxy sets is time consuming but the UV stuff cures in 10 seconds. i have seen good things with the CCG which seem like the dental version of the stuff. dries very hard and very clear. it is also much more expensive that the loon stuff but it does give better overall results. if you have a slow rotation wheel for drying epoxy it is great stuff but if you don't it's a bit of a job.

One negative experience I have found is that if you use the clear cure on thin skin nymph casing the CCG will harden but not adhere well at all to the thin skin.
I have had two issues with epoxy over the years the first has been getting the mixture just right some times. The other was tying with epoxy close to my old Television. The epoxy was drawn to the static electricity of my television if i sat close enough. After tying a few dozzen surf candies the T.V. got a coating in the lower right hand corner of the screen.
I have an epoxy rotary so time was less of an issue.

Wylie, Didn't your mother ever yell "DON"T sit so close to the TV!" and how the hell does epoxy get to the TV? Spray Version? Are you whipping it into a frenzy and the stuff is flying all around? or just the stringy strands get sucked of into TV land I really want to watch you tie sometime, Steve
