Ive been poking around the internet and have been reading about trout beads? Are they just for float fishing? Can you use them with your fly rod? What about using them for the eggs on sucker spawn etc?
Thanks!

I am not saying anything about trout/salmon beads except, I use them on tube flies ( red wine tube in the fly section), use them as a head on ESL, and I'll string a few in front of the hook on the back of a waddington or stinger type set up, but all are incorporated into the hook/ fly. My personal opinion and practice it to not use them, just as with the Moffit system, each to his own

I have also used then as heads on ESLs. They look cool. I do agree with Nanook and for fear of starting a debate won't state my opinions on their other uses.

Thanks guys. I would only use them if they were incorporated into a fly like a esl. But to each his own. Did not want to start a debate just a fly tying question.

I understand, No worries!
I like to drill out one side of the egg so that it will fit snugly over the thread head of the fly and throw a little super glue on it before jamming the "egg" over it. Then melt the inner tube. I have thought about not using super glue so you could switch colors of the head on the water but haven't tried it yet.
Make sure you post your creations if you start messing around with them.
