Coming from Burlington Ontario, I have been doing some fishing in the Adirondack region and inland waters such as Oakta, spring creek etc. I would like to try my hand at the Catt. Is my NY State license all I need? I heard that I might require another license as the river passes through a reserve. Do I need to buy another license?
Thanks,
Chris

Chris, the lower end of the big trib is on the Seneca Nation of Indians lands and does require a seperate license. they are obtainalbe at the administration buliding on 438 or at the gas stations at the corner of 5&20 or most of the others for that matter. they cost $35 and run on the calendar year.

If you plan on fishing the Catt. within the boundries of the Seneca Indian Nation you need a Reservation License. Can be purchased at various locations within their boundries.

Thanks for the replies. Looking at a map, it looks like there is a long section including tribs between Gowanda and Springville. I think I'll start there and see how things turn out. Assuming the usual posted signs apply for river access?
thx
Chris

As per my post, I am planning on hitting this area of the State later in the week. Are there any maps online or available that indicate public right of way access to the river and tribs?
NY has a lot of posted land as compared to what I am used to in Ontario.
Thanks,
Chris
