Created by Mark Bauman of Whitefish Montana. This pattern was taught to me by my good friend Al Hammel whom it was taught to by Mark himself whilst Al was living in Montana. Sadly, Mark passed away in September 2002. This pattern has saved both Al and my arse on the Salmon River (Malone, NY) more than once. The color combos are pretty much endless. Al likes to use deer hair instead of elk and tie with a lime thread. I've tied them either way....with elk and deer although have found that deer to be a bit more bouyant. Hook: Nymph or dry depending on presentation desired Thread: Color to match or contrast Tail: 3 Peacock Herls Body: Elk or Deer hair Note: This pattern is usually most productive during a caddis hatch, but has caught during a Hendrickson hatch as well. Deer Hair Version Elk Hair Version
