Up till recently, and thanks largely to Nick, I was quite satisfied with my hook selection for the tubes I was tying. But then I wanted to get into tying shorter tubes tied on HMH micro tubes yet still stay with a #4 hook. The closest I know of is Tiemco 105 at 5X short, and while it sorta works, the jury is still out (only tried it twice so far) on whether I will take fish on this setup. But this hook is of heavier guage than I'd like to see and I would prefer 6X short. Also its offset which could result in a critically off balance presentation. So my wish is that somewhere there exists a hook similar to the Tiemco 105 but of shorter shank, lighter wire, and not offset.

I think that there is one made by daiichi. I'm not quite sure of the number at this time of night but give me a call at the shop tomorrow and I can see what I can find. The one I am thinking of may be an x-point but I believe that they also make one that is not as expensive that may get the job done.

Just as an update on this, I've settled on looking at the mustad 9417, 94151 in size 4 and Partridge Nordic in size 6.

Correction in my post above -- I meant Mustad 9174 and NOT Mustad 9471
