I went to the tying demo today (Vern, awesome stuff) and talked to Nick after to get the materials to tie this pattern that was recommended in a previous thread. I know the hackle isn't fantastic but that's going to take me some time to perfect. I also need to bug out the dubbing a little, but this is what I came up with. Nick, don't be offended at how bad this is compared to yours.

hey Pat, nice to meet you today. i can't really find anything wrong with that at all, in fact it's nice and buggy and should work well. as you tie more of them you will be able to tidy them up a bit i'm sure, but that's about all it would need. very fine first effort.

nice tie ... i like how u kept the hackle sparse .... many people tend to over-hackle their buggers ..... but i like it with just the mallard collar ..... good job and keep it up!!!

hope you don't mind me popping in a tie that I made recently with a material that comes from the UK, in my case it came from Wales. This fly I call a 'picric partridge bugger', because it is made entirely with a 'french picric partridge feather..materials are listed below..Materials: tail/hackle [palmered] and collar is picric french partridge.. the main body is olive UV Fritz hook size is #8 Daiichi 1530
