I participated in this last year with a friend and my 5 y/o (now 6) son. It was a very nice event. We felt good spending our time helping the creek. Also got to meet some other anglers as well as creek side property owners. This is one way to demonstrate to creek side property owners that anglers care about the habitat.
Canadaway Creek Conservation Project
Hosted by SAREP Youth Fly Fishing Program
The S.A.R.E.P. Youth Fly Fishing Program will be organizing the Canadaway
Creek Conservation Project on Saturday, June 16 from 11:30am to 3pm at the gazebo behind the Fire Hall on Main Street in Fredonia, NY. The project will entail educational presentations, a stream clean-up and willow whip planting program to stabilization the stream’s banks. Free lunch and t-shirts will be provided to all participants.
Schedule of Activities
Saturday, June 16
The projected tentative schedule is as follows:
11:30 am- Meet at gazebo behind the Fredonia Fire Hall on Main Street in
Fredonia by the stream to sign-up, distribute maps of Canadaway Creek, participate In cook-out and select designate clean-up and planting sections.
12:30 pm- educational presentation about Canadaway Creek
1 pm - Move to designated sections and begin clean-up and planting willow
whips.
3 pm - return to Gazebo behind Fire Hall - for group get-together.
Lunch and a nice t-shirt is provided.
Children should be accompanied by a
parent. This should be a wonderful event to help instill
the conservation spirit in our youth.
