i know that they still stock some numbers of landlocked salmon in some of the Ontario tribs, and I'm also pretty sure they come in a little earlier than the kings, does anyone here target these fish?if so when can someone expect to start seeing these fish show up in the tribs?I know this is a very hush hush topic but any info would be great,I'm not looking for somebody's secrete spot, ill explore to find them just looking for dates ,or weather patterns to look for so i don't waste a drive up there when their are no fish in them creeks

here's how i understand the runs of atlantics in the L.O. tribs. of the few fish that do come in most come in in may-mid june when the rivers are still flowing well. they hang around as long as the conditions allow and then leave for the lake again if it gets too warm. some are reputed to summer over right through in deeper spring fed pools. some then enter the rivers again in the fall, but usualy along with the rest of the chinooks, cohos and browns when the water starts to come up in the fall and the temps cool off. i have not seen a pic or heard of a large adult being caught first hand in a number of years. i personally have never caught one from a L.O. trib. that's about all i know.

once, at least 10 years back, on an mid spring afternoon I caught a 13" Atlantic in a small trib of a stream that feeds into a large bay immediately to the east of Rochester, at one time there was an active attempt to repopulate that drainage with Atlantics, but again, that info is very old and I have since heard 3rd hand rumors that the attempt had been discontinued. How's that for nonspecific, uninformative rumor mongering? good luck with your search though

I would expect more Atlantics on the New York side over the next few years. We have a large Alantic reintroduction/stocking program in three of our Ontairo side LO tribs. There are plans to add a forth river (Bronte Creek) after final assessmnets have been completed. Some info... atlanticsalmonontario.ca/I should also add that large Atlantics are being caught near the mouths of some tribs right now. Cheers Chris
