It's a foam version of a standard stimulator dry. Replace dubbing with foam. They work great.
ADK yet another great looking fly from you. Thanks for sharing

I love it! So different. thanks, mikey I'll pretend you didnt post that In the meantime.....you need to broaden your horizons a bit. Quit practicing your tying skillz on Wooly Buggers (nothing wrong with a bugger or booger for that matter), but maybe you should check into some of those links I sent you a while back. And I'm glad you like the double smelt although its far from any voodoo. For a good dose of voodoo, check out some of Nicks stuff. ;D Have you ever done any trout fishing Mikey? Tight Lines ADK

do you fish patterns like the double smelt frequently? I've seen streamers like that before, but they certainly aren't wait I would describe as a popular streamer design, especially these days. I guess i tend to fish streamers that are bulkier and not a lot of hair wing and flat wing styles..

Cluster.. Never fished nor had seen anything like it before this past weekend. I stumbled upon the concept somewhere online. Mustad used to actually manufacture double keeled hooks. www.flytyer.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=56&Itemid=85 I modified some that I had in stock. I'm one of those tyers that if I see something I want to tie or have in my arsenal......then I tie it. That being said......I believe that double smelt pattern is great on swing or even trolled behind a canoe....yes...I said trolled... I'll spin out 1/2 doz more in different color combos and throw em in my streamer box for future use. By the way........you should see what that SOB looks like when wet!!

ADk Nice pattern, Bob Popovich has a similar pattern which is a double bait fish pattern. Keel hooks can also be used to tie fuller bait fish patterns cluster by stacking material generally buck tail but I also like craft fur, sparsley which allows for a faster fly in the water. A common streamer pattern tied on a keel hook is the Stacked Blond. Add some of those to your streamer box for sure! Mustad Keel hook Mustad Keel hook size 2,4,6
