Sorry, Nick, Steve, Jules, I haven't really added anything since the start of the forum, but not a whole lot has been going on. I've spent a good deal of time since my last fishing jaunt to look into furled leaders for spey casting. My goal is FC leaders for steelhead. After reading the considerable info on the web for constructing these leaders, and even getting an informative DVD by Kathy Scott, while I feel I could now easily get into making these leaders, I decided I'd just buy them for now. I bought one from George (furledleader@msn.com) out in Olympia WA, but haven't tried it yet. Between us we figured that a 9' fast sink in a #8 leader would be about right for the heavier flies I use with my 12.5' spey rod. He said up to 6' of tippet could attach to that and still give a good turn over. He has a metal ring at the end of the leaders he sells and claims this doesn't hinge and works very well. I see that the owner of a major supplier in the mid west is very hot on these leaders and recommends tying a perfection loop onto the tippet section before affixing it around the shoulder of the metal ring. I'll try to keep you posted of my results with this. At the same time if any of you have experience with these leaders I'd love to have it.
