This fly was invented by artist Rick Harington and it is a fly he uses successfully on some Lake Erie tributaries. Rick goes by the name SLSS on several internet bulletin boards hence the name. When I asked him for the pattern he said he really didn’t have one for it and kind of made it up as he went along. So what I have below is as close to Ricks fly as I could get in look and feel. It has worked well for me. Tube: 1 to 1 ½ inch plastic. Tail: Orange dyed pheasant rump wound as a hackle followed by four orange dyed grizzly saddle hackles stripped except for the tip tied in randomly around the tube and some dyed orange lady Amherst tail dyed orange and tied in randomly around the tube. Body: Fiery brown SLF spun in a dubbing loop Hackle: Four orange dyed grizzly saddle hackles stripped except for the tip tied in randomly around the tube and some dyed orange lady Amherst tail dyed orange and tied in randomly around the tube then an orange dyed pheasant rump wound as a hackle. Cone: Black turbo type cone.
