The Black Gordon is an old standard for steelhead fishing on the west coast. It was originally invented by Clarence Gordon in the 1930’s for fishing the North Umpqua. This is my version of the fly adapted to a tube. Tube: Brass, Copper or Aluminum Tag: oval gold tinsel. Butt: Red hackle Rib: Black Lagartun flat braid with oval gold tinsel on either side of it over rear half of body, large oval gold over the front part of body. Body: Rear half red floss, front half black dubbing. Body Hackle: Red hackle palmerd over front of body. Collar: Black hackle. Wing: Black rabbit strip over rear half, Black rabbit strip over front. Head: Black cone.
