Link to NOAA’s Hydrologic service with a nice map that shows where the rain has been and where not. We have been just missing the rain. Scroll down to see a table with more detail. Okay, so I am a weather nerd and yes you do not need to read a map to know we are parched, but I thought it was cool. www.erh.noaa.gov/buf/rain/

wow that really does put it in perspective, so close to us but nothing. eventualy a hurrican remnant will work it's way up just like most years, but i now fear we will get some fairly serious flooding when it does happen. hopefully it won't be an all or nothing fall.

How many people did the rain dance last fall?? Maybe we could try to keep it to normal levels this year guys. I would like to have a couple of days on the Catt. Remember a few years back after Labor day when "Ivan" came through and dropped 11" of rain. I headed to the Oak 2 days after and there were fresh kings already @ the dam with the overflow channel loaded full. When the levels came back down fish were gone back to the lake. The run took several weeks before it got going again. Just remember to watch what you wish for.

Re-stating the obvious.....a news report today has announced Toronto and Southern Ontario had the driest summer in 50 years. I'm sure similar records will fall in WNY. I live a half dozen blocks from Lake Ontario and we have been on a watering ban since June and it doesn't look like it's ending anytime soon.
