First of all I am a dip shit when it comes to this stuff – so there is probably a better way. You should be able to resize them by using whatever software you use to load them from the camera to your computer (in the manifesto Nick states no wider than 600 pix). I upload my pictures onto an online service such as photo bucket. You can also resize when the picture is on the online service. Once the picture is on the online service you can copy and paste the img link to it right into the text section of your post. Suggest that you always preview your post before you actually submit it to make sure it worked as desired.

whatever picture viewer you may be using probably has a resize feature on it. resize the pic to 600px wide and save a COPY, do not save the changes or your pic will be forever 600px wide. your original will stay the same size it was and you will now have a copy of the image resized in a file on your comp. in the reply form you will see the image upload thingy which you have been using for the thumbnails. click on the desired image hit the "host it" button, wait for it to load and then when the window pops up showing the pic and telling you it's uploaded click on the top one which says "full size image" or some such. then go to the bottom of the window and hit the "add to post" button which will put the url of your image in the message. you need to make sure there is a space between each url or they will be displayed across the screen defeating the original purpose. it is easier than typing that.
