Post this here so I can find it again if / when needed Seen this last summer and lost it. Looked pretty slick for initial line/head out in some cases but, also if a fly hand been striped back in well into the head.........aka..........Bronzeback / Smallies switch/spey in certain pools, ideal temps, I like to strip well back in after a swing. Thought this was a pretty cool little trick compared to dangling, casting line out prior................hey nick www.youtube.com/watch?v=dw5uf37q_vo&feature=related

This is good stuff. I never really thought of it as a technique, but I (and I bet lots of other guys) have been doing this for quite some time when fishing a compact head (esp skagit) on both the switch and spey rod. The beauty of this maneuver is that the mass of a compact shooting head easily draws the loop-to-loop connection of the running line/head out of the tip-top.
