I am planning a (possibly spiteful, weather considered) trip up the Old Forge/Inlet area this weekend and was wondering if you have any reports about the area. I plan to fish mainly streamers and nymphs and was wondering if you have any favorite picks for this time of year...Thanks a lot for any response you have time to provide!

Sorry for the late response... Unfortunately I know nothing about the Old Forge region. I can tell you that large black stones and wooly buggers in olive and brown seem to work well for me in the spring or anytime for that matter. You might wanna pack some Hendrickson dries. Haystacks in various sizes and colors work well all season long as long as there is surface activity and sometimes when no surface activity is present.
Sorry - my advice might be fruitless, but like I said, I know nothing of that area.
If anyone else here is familiar with that area.....please chime in and help this gentleman. ;D

Well thank you for the response. Its nice to know this is a funtional communication board even though I didnt check back before I left for the trip! Well, the water that I ended up mainly fishing is a branch of one of the largest rivers in the region and it was mid/high levels but wadeable in most reasonable spots. After a day of scouting with an olive bugger (you're right on man) I got a few flashes by small brookies in the fast water but the next day hiked about 1/2 a mile to where the elevation pans out and found a few real nice pools and bends that hled some real nice brookies. The smallest was 9" the biggest was 16! Yes there were mayflies coming out but didnt see any rising. The water wasnt really condusive to spotting a rise anyways, but Im sure they were being noted by the fish. Thanks again.
