Hello Everyone, My family and I are going to be spending the a week in the Adirondacks coming up, and I was hoping to do some fishing. My dad and two other brothers and I are new at fly fishing, after becoming hooked two years ago at the festival Oak Orchard generously held. We have been fishing a lot, but to say we are bad fishermen would be a compliment. I think we will be fishing the Ausable and maybe a mountain pond or stream, but we don't have concrete plans. Does anyone have any good flies that we should try to tie or any good areas to fish at? I should mention that I am 16, so more basic flies would be appreciated. Thank you for your time, Jake W.

On the Ausable there should be Tricos, Tan Caddis, Black Caddis, maybe some Yellow Sallies (Stoneflys) Also the Isonychia should be starting...Terrestrials: Black Ants, Beetles. Attractors: Adams Parachute, Ausable Wulff for starters. Also olive and black Wooley Buggers. If your fishing above Whiteface really no problem, but if you are fishing below get yourself a wading staff as it turns to maderate gradient until you get to Wilmington.......a lot of bolders and pocket water which means unseen holes. Can be tough wading and somewhat dangerous if you're not careful. Don't know anything about the ponds up there
Hope this helps some... and tight lines

Drag a stimulator across the top like a skating stone. Always gets a few. Check out black brook for brookies
