Hey Gents:
Having only subscribed today, and not having waded through all the contributions here, I will apologize in advance if this question has been broached and discussed elsewhere.
Curious what sort of results you may have been getting the last few years with intruders--I know they are favoured on some of the larger west coast rivers, but no sure how we are faring with them here.
Your insights are appreciated. CC

Hey Chrome, welcome to the board.
Nick's Foxy Leach could be interpreted to be Intruder Style'd and it works great.
I see no reason why other intruder style'd flies wouldn't work.

i have not used any real intruder flies myself but i do know people who do here and they have success with them. i think any pattern in the right size and color with good motion will work. that all seems to be the key more so than any particular pattern.

Nick has it exactly correct. Don't get hung up on specific patterns. Focus on size, color, and weight (unweighted, cone head, and copper tubes for me) and you should be all good.

I haven't fished the exact intuder pattern but they do work and I know some guys who do fish the exact pattern and they have been getting fish too. I think you may want to refine them this year since the water is so low. A smaller, more sparse intruded in natural colors should work good this year.

"refine them this year since the water is so low. A smaller, more sparse intruded" - frank's got it For just about any pattern, I match fly size to the size of the water in front of you - smaller streams = smaller patterns (*if visibility is good) Fishing the lower River , I have had success on bastardized tube intruder, purple & white flys in the 4 to 5 in. range. BUT lakers will eat anything... I found it! oakorchardflies.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=membersflies&action=display&thread=4131
