This fly has done me very well fishing in a few color combo's (black/purple,Gray/White, & GI Joe Camo~ Olive/brown or black/olive. Casts well, balanced well, swims like bunny and the hook rides way back.. Hidden 6 grain large brass / black cone . Hybrid and hw liner HMH tube. Less fuss just collars and wings. Reverse tie the goat ~ slippery stuff to keep it locked in. Wings ~ A Fox, Finn Coon, Goat Collars ~ Shlappen, Shlappen Hidden Cone/No Body

Morning wylie ! LOL, the internet opened a whole new world for those whom enjoy fly tying. Yin and Yang, I enjoy classic's and new stuff, natural and synthetic's. Where a tyer was limited to USA based books and mags before the world is a click away now. I see new to me cool ties via the net particularly from Scandinavia,Europe and Asia (Japan). Always had a soft spot for collecting various wing hairs. Of course we can't just stay with what works either Must see if pattern XYZ works as well or better. Tube flies remind me of model building as a kid. I have about a 150 bugs in my fanny pack, about 130 more than needed . A lot of ESL, Buggers,Bunny & Marabou ~ nothing interesting nor classic there though, just meat and potatoes rather than something different like lutefisk and lefse.Pro Tube and several other spawning tube manufactures have slip on hidden, concave weight systems that support the collars and wings. Nice stuff but, pricey little gadgets. HMH stocked at the shop ~ do the same thing, in fact better IMO having used both, with cones you already have and their hybrid/liner tubing for much less $$$ ~ which was how I ended up trying & testing. They swim great, balanced , slightly weight forward dive on the drift which one wants. Cast very easy and put the hook back simple tie. Pro Tube has some cool stuff but, it costs about 5x more also PLUS you really need their tube needle for snug fit because of course it's a proprietary diameter to fit their needle to

Simply beautiful Bill!! It may not look like much to some, but you have certainly engineered this fly and fine tuned it into the perfection we see before us. I hope you don't mind if I copy some of these for my own box!!

Very nice... I love Finn Coon! Do you brush out all the underfur or leave some of it in to keep the plump front end? or Does it just flare from the hidden cone?

andy ~ i comb out all the underfur nap of my mobile winging hairs well. i would not say the cone flares it but, would say it keeps in from collapse . for me those type winging hairs are very fun to collect and sift through.
frank ~ thanks, i like the clear plastic tube in water. it takes on a cool transparent hue of what ever color combo the fly was tied in. the cone nests into the tube liner junction well.
