Please, all criticism is welcome. I know I chose some easier flies but these are my first tubes. These are all Nick's patterns because he has absolutely great step by step slideshows. I much prefer those over watching someone tie them on youtube. In person is obviously the better of all three though. All pictures taken on my iphone
and before anyone asks...

I wish I would have taken some notes at dave's demo because I can not figure out how to set that mallard. I am also having a lot of trouble finishing the heads. I can not really get an even taper or can I keep them short enough. You can see on the speys I improved on my second attempt. Is the taper just something that requires more patience or is there a technique?
Is the schlapen on the BS Spey burnt correctly? (Nick?)
Is the marabou on the turducken too long?
I was reading that it is recommended that you keep the hook in the tube to allow it to shape? Is this true. It seems to me like shorter junction tubing that never had the hook in it unless it was being fished would have the greatest chance of dislodging when fighting a fish. I was really hoping to just carry all of my tubes in a rapala box from walmart without the hooks in them but if that is not recommended i will not go that route.
Thanks for the reading and any helpful info.
