I'm looking at buying a new spey rod and am considering the 12'4 #8 echo2 scandi. Does anyone have feedback about this rod or the Scandinavian Echo2's? The price seems right and I like the twin-tip idea but I just want to make sure it is as good as it sounds.

Personally I have been blown away by these rods. With two tips it will give you great flexibility between spey and over head casting if you ever reach the surf. I found that the accuracy tip loaded the rod further down which made it a great joy to spey cast. The distance tip is great for doing over head casting in the surf if you ever make it to the coast for stripers. The rod responds well to short casts as well as handling casts of a hundred feet or more. The handle is generous so that you are able to get a great transition of power and balance between the bottom and top hand. The single foot guides are also a great addition allowing the rod to be "lighter," without taking away from it's strength. On a more technical note it handles 7 IPS tips with heavy tube flies no problem as well as intermediate leaders and small flies for more delicate presentations. The rod in question would make a great rod for the Great Lakes region from here to the Salmon, and even western GL tribs as well. Hope this helps.
