If you could pick one new rod which one?
Length 13-14' 8-9 wt
Scott t2h T&T Meiser MKS Sage Z-Axis G.Loomis
My Florida saltwater trip may fall through, so I am considering a spey rod upgrade. Any thoughts?
Thanks,

based on what you have now i would be thinking 14' 9 wt. to round out the quiver. the T&T 1409 has always had the rep of being one of the best. the new scott t2h is also gaining a quick following. those are the ones i'm familiar with.
the other angle would be to buy a really nice rod in the weight/length that you use most. like the 1308 types that fit our fisheries well and would be the "everyday" rod you use all the time.
as always my suggestion would be to try as many as you can and pick the one you like the best. a little tougher at this time of year, but it really is the way to do it. for what we carry i can arrange a test drive just about anytime with a little warning.

T&T 13' 8wt Hands Down. One of the finest spey rods made, 4 pieces, can be fished in WNY and in bigger water. I own it and love it. With that said, if you already had a 7 or 8 wt Spey I would go with the T&T 1409 as nick stated. Would see limited use here in WNY but would be a fine Atlantic Salmon rod or steelhead out West.

I was playing around with a buddies 14' 9wt and that is definitly the size that I plan on going with. Normally my home water is the Grand River in Ontario which is BIG water. A 14' foot rod will be right at home on our big three the Grand, Saugeen and Maitland.
However, I did see that T&T has a 13' 9wt which could be an interesting all around rod.

I remember the 13' 9 and 14' 9 being similar. It may have been the 13' 8 though. I have the 14' 9 and it's McRod ;-) Does everything, heads in the Maryland surf or Salmon, long lines (my fav) with any size fly, mid-bellies, and even (hold your breath) Skagit lines. The only complaint, and it's a little one, is the tip can get a bit spongy or splashy, meaning under really heavy load it won't track perfectly straight on the forward stroke. That said, it's my fishing rod of choice.

So I ordered my next spey rod...G Loomis 14' 8/9 roaring river greased line series.
Anyone have experience with this rod ie. line suggestions? The Loomis site suggests Delta Mid 9/10 or 10/11 line.
Any suggestions much appreciated.
Thanks
Chris

For me that rod would be a Scott T2H 13'6" 7wt. I haven't had a chance to try one but if it's anything like the 8wt. T2H switch rod I got this pasat Spring it will be a blast.
