Was wondering if anyone has tried or has experience fishing the spey rod at night? I know that for me it is hard enough to cast during the day but I imagine that at night it must be even more difficult. I was speaking with steve today and he had said it would be very difficult to know where ones anchor is while fishing at night. I would be interested in hearing others experiences if they have them I am thinking of fishing for river born trout at night. Perhaps I will experiment with making a spey line from a canablized lumalux line. If I do that I might be able to tell where my anchor is.

I'm not saying this because I can't see my line, honest, but I find it's almost better at night because you're casting from feel and not sight. You have to be careful to keep the anchor away from you, not far enough to take away from your cast, but you have to think a bit more and it's all done by feel. It's not much different than a single hander in that regard.
Keep in mind if you're afraid of stabbing yourself there are plenty of casts which will keep the fly safely away from you.
