7 PM Start The Glenn and Awdry Flickinger Performing Arts Center 1250 Amherst St., Buffalo, NY 14216 James Prosek is an author and artist whose varied work focuses on nature and conservation. Aside from his own books, he has written for such esteemed publications as The New York Times and National Geographic Magazine. In addition, his art has been displayed in distinguished galleries across the country and he has performed as a member of the musical group, Troutband. In 2003, he won a Peabody Award for his documentary, “The Compleat Angler.” In 2004, he co-founded the World Trout Initiative with Patagonia Outdoor Clothing owner, Yvon Chouinard, raising money for cold water habitat conservation efforts. Prosek’s most recent works include his 2012 book, “Ocean Fishes,” and a documentary entitled, “The Mystery of Eels,” which ran on PBS last April as part of its “Nature” series. The documentary is based on his 2010 book, which was a New York Times editor’s choice. Among other honors, he received Philadelphia’s Academy of Natural Sciences Gold Medal for Distinction in Natural History Art in 2012. All are welcome to attend. Reservations are not required.
