Musky Pike Tube Fly Swimming Action. I shot this while taking a pit stop from row trolling a lake in my Adirondack Guide Boat Vermont Fishing Dory last weekend. This is a 7" split tail Bunny-Bou Tube Fly I tied for Row or Paddle trolling. The action and profile are impressive. It is nearly weedless with an Octopus hook inverted (point up). Recipe for this Split Tail Musky Bunny Bou Tube HMH Poly Tube Creamsickle Orange HMH Large Cone Tail Under 1 bunny strip tied hyde up to length. Modest amount of flash a bou to same length butts reversed tied and left. Tail Upper bunny strip tied to length, hyde down, with enough tag left for 3-4 wraps up the tube body. The tails shown are not magnum though it can be used, these are standard width, nice and full. Body 6 to 8 marabou plumes wrapped spey style tied in by the butts. Flash a bou if desired. Head is a cone The hook keels the fly Tips contrasting bunny strips if desired . Two colors of marabou wrapped at same time is nice. Use clean tip marabou and wrap two together at a time. For a casting rather than traditional streamer trolling fly use less marabou. The two bunny tails are not the issue casting. The issue is the mega amount of marabou acting like a sponge. I have tried both casting and trolling. Less marabou or a Finn Racoon belly and back Deceiver like casts well. Mega marabou wrapped is better for trolling, breathes adds life with out jerk stripping, profile, size ,etc.
