That's sweet, Mr. Cornelius LOVE the body/hackle *2 cents: you could shorten up the crests and tighten up the profile - But your probably following THE 1850 pattern to a tee, that I haven't seen, so I should shut up... " tips to reduce the oily character of the fibres?" I had some white marabou that reaked of mothballs when wet. I thought I needed less deterrent for keeping fish from biting my flys so I washed the finished flys. I used warm water and basic UNSCENTED Dove Bar soap, just worked in with my fingers while hanging onto the bend/point with my other hand. and rinse well. It seemed to get rid of the smell AND stopped the having to pre-wet the marabou flys so they didn't float like a pile of fluff that didn't want to absorb water and sink, IE: cut the oily-ness. Don't know if you would pre-wash individually before tying in, or the whole wing after tying it, might as well try that one Lemme'know how it goes! AND if it F'ed up the fly... Give it to Charlie or Timmy at the bake, to give to me and I'll fish it F.ed up and all

Many thanks for the insights man... Seems I might be using the wrong terminology...the fibres are waxy...yeah...that's it...waxy...They are naturally so it seems, that, in concert with a poorly mashed set of fibres (should roll them between my fingers) would lead to the result above... Razor the bastard wings and go again. No Bake for you man? Would be great to link up...
Gracias!!

"would lead to the result above.." "semi-still married" is pretty cool, leaving blocks of color (the yellow) I'm no expert on mixed wings, other than the result of my married and strip wings... But it looks nicely mixed, It's the crests, you should fret about "Would be great to link up..." If you guys head back up into NY, I may come out to gang fish with ya. But we will see what the rain does and if any of you are able to drive
