What would be fishable turbidity value on the big creek. I think I have seen low discharge increases but large spikes in turbidity. There are no stupid questions just stupid people, just kidding, mostly. Thanks in advance, david

I'll be the first to jump in here............ Generally speaking, and I do mean generally, because there are a few variables that come in to play - Turbidity=20 is the magic number for me. And sometimes even 20 is unfishable in certain parts of the crik. For instance I've been down in Zoar and its been chocolate milk where others have told me that the rez was fishable on that same day.
At the end of the day you gotta get off the couch and go see for yourself.

pretty good assessment Mike. one of the few rivers anywhere where the lower end typically clears faster than the upper.

I think the point ultimately being made there was that system is THE hardest to predict out of any that I fish. I live in the same town as the damn River and I can't time it right some days even after staring at the gauge. With that being said its both a blessing and a curse because it prevents the crowds from reaching the levels of the other popular rivers in the state. Some of my best days have come from "unfishable" gauge conditions that weren't half bad and crowd free! On the other side this fall I broke the cardinal rule and am quite embarrassed about it. I drove to pick up my friend before sunrise who lives only a stones throw from the river and drove to the next River north because of poor gauge readings and never actually checking the river only to find out conditions were prime until mid day! F!
