Good morning everyone, my Dad has recently expressed to me an interest in learning to fly fish. This news to me was very exciting and I am jumping at the opportunity to share my passion with my old man as he has shared his with me for 30 plus years. What I am looking for is if anyone has any recommendations on ponds I can get him casting for some blue gills or small bass ect ( I am not asking for honey holes or anything I know this is a strongly frowned upon and I completely respect that) I have no experience or knowledge of any ponds in public parks or other public waters where I can take him casting and practice and learn with the ability to hook. Again I sincerely apologize if this crosses the line and will take this down immediately if I offend by asking. I am hoping to find a place not too far from the Town of Tonawanda area. Thank you very much.

Ellicott Creek Park has a nice overflow pond just off South Ellicott Creek Road, West of Nia. Falls Boulevard. Plenty of open space to cast, though may get crowded on the weekends so go early.

Thats not a bad idea, thanks Andy.I forgot about that little over flow. I have fished there a few times in the past with decent catches, never had a busy day on that water.

If you want him to catch something immediately, try Bond Lake in Niagara County. It is open, so he can learn to cast and is loaded with bluegills.
