Well the wife and I booked a trip to Seattle/Vancouver from August 11 to 19th to visit her friend who just relocated there. I am looking to get some fishing in but wanted to get some input from anyone who has spent the time out there. Please let me know what your recommendations are while in the Seattle/Vancouver area those days. I am hung up on getting a guide for one particular area or trying to see and fish as many named rivers as I can while I am out there- and drink some micro brews as well. Thanks in advance for any information you can give me including guides, options, state access points or a place to find that information, etc. I appreciate your help! Bob T.

If you don't mind a couple of hour drive, I would recommend the Olympic Penninsula. I was out there in March Steelhead fishing, and although I didn't do great, it is a pretty cool place. Lots of rivers to chose from and you should have them mostly to yourself during the summer as they most famous for their winter steehlead runs. In August there should be summer steelhead, sea run cutts, and probably salmon of some sort. Plenty of access and good camping. If you want specifics on the OP let me know.
If you are looking closer to Seattle, I have a friend who fishes the Puget Sound beaches for cutthroats and says it is alot of fun. I don't know anything about that though.
Summer steelhead runs in the rivers close to Seattle are pretty depressed, but I believe the North Fork of the Stillaguamish should have hatcery fish and maybe a couple natives. There are a couple shops in Seattle that I am sure you can call.

As far as Vancouver goes the Squamish river is beautiful. I'm Not sure about run timing but when I was there I was told great coho runs along with steelhead and bull trout. It's only about an hour or so drive from Vancouver. The drive up to whistler is worth the trip alone, it's gorgeous. The drive into the Squamish is a bit rough as you take loging roads but definitely worth it. I recommend contacting the Whistler fly shop for a bit more info, they were very helpful and gave very specific info as far as access.
