Wow, Frank, those are beautiful. To bring a steelhead to hand with one of those in the jaw would be quite the photo.

Tails are cool, Frank! The resistance will keep your hook from sagging too. But it looks like fairly stiff loop line stuff, what are you using? I've built a few with that exact shape, with JC eyes in Niagara minnow colors(now I have to add some tails too ) I can tell these are your fishing flys, split nails still flow together in the water How many J C necks do you have with split nails, you can't use for production flys?

The material is 7 strand beadalon .018 diameter and yes it is pretty stiff. I have three necks that have a combo of perfect eyes and splits. One cape is good for some show flies and also some fishing flies. Not high dollar capes. Almost time to track down some more.
