A day late and a dollar short. That's how I feel about this post. I went to Syracuse Saturday the 19th & stopped into the Tie One On Fly Fishing Show. It's a small show but from what I hear gets bigger every year. Here's the link to this year's show. link (www.tieoneon.us) The show featured tiers, fly material sellers, a bamboo rod winder, classroom instruction and organizations like Casting for Recovery & the Central District of the DEC. No spin fishing, center pinners or bait casting. It was all fly tying and fly fishing and was sponsored by the Iroquois Chapter of Trout Unlimited. Some of the featured tiers and seminar speakers were Bob Clouser of clouser deep minnow fame, Orvis' Tom Rodenbauer, Andy Dober, Mike Small (muskies in the St. Lawrence) and Ethan Law. Like I said, a small show but well worth going. I'll be there next year for sure. Next year's show (it's only a one day show) will be on March 25, 2017. Admission was $10, $5 for TU members

Yeah it seems to be a good event. I was interested in working it myself but was told they were full.

I was looking for you at the show, Nick. Thought for sure that you'd be there. You would have fit right in. The room was on the small side & all the tables were taken. Talked to one of the tiers & he told me that the tables were free & a discount was given to the tiers for their hotel room. Hopefully you'll be able to make it next year.

Hi All
Sorry I missed that show, looks like a nice small intimate show where everyone is down to earth and just enjoys the sport. If I can remember that far ahead I'll try and make it next year.

Gents...Getting a group together sounds like a great idea. It's a 2-1/2 hr ride for, maybe a three hr show, but well worth it. I dropped my wife off at "Destiny USA" which is like the 6th largest mall in the country while I went wandering the fly show. By the time I picked her up, she was BEAT! Gave new meaning to "shop 'til you drop." There's even a carousel inside. here's a wiki link that describes it well. link. I'll try to get some pics up if I can resize the files.

John
Your plan was devious, I mentioned it to my wife for next year, but she didn't like the idea of getting dropped off at a strange mall in a different country, maybe I'll have to shop also

Devious, indeed. If it makes your wife feel any better, one of the tiers, a Syracuse area local, was telling me that the mall gets a good amount of Canadian traffic and I did see a a lot cars with Ontario plates. Mention that to your wife & we'll see who's devious. There is also a brochure she can carry around to find the stores. Of course, when I met up with my wife inside the mall & went to leave, I led us out the wrong exit. A longer walk to the car but I knew where it was parked. Good luck. Hopefully we'll catch up with each other next year.
